A dog who recalls the story of his life, which will resonate to blended or broken families. A dad who isn't there to raise his kids, leaving the mom heartbroken can be very relatable in this day and time. A pattern of behavior passed down generations in the family.
Breaking the cycle is part of the story. Our parents past is something most children don't really know much about because parents generally do no divulge stories of their youth. Like all kids, they ponder the future days when they'll be old enough to go on their own and explore life without their parents protecting and raising them. It's his journey through life, different homes, and the ups and downs of growing up. It's a good read. Just wish it could have had a few illustrations here and there. It would create a stronger impact for the reader (kids) who are being read to.
