This was a very interesting series. I found myself enthralled with the main character, Geralt of Rivia. Geralt has many qualities, we everyday folks seem to possess. Loss of love, rejection, isolation, unworthiness of others, need for companionship, and looking for home. Although Geralt hunts monsters, he comes to find not all "monsters" deserve a fate of death. Some monsters are simply misunderstood and want peace to simply live. As he traverses the land, he experiences the a connection with another soul with whom he finds love, only to experience rejection. He also takes on a mentorship akin to being a father, although he a Witcher and his love, Yennefer the sorceress.
While we get to see personal friends of Geralt, like the uncanny Dandelion to which reading about is enjoyable, the reader can make connections on a personal level to how Geralt feels and reacts to situations he gets involved in. If you like fantasy mixed with horror, this is a series one can get behind. New monsters are revealed with strange abilities akin to our more everyday monsters in stories. Once you start reading, it's hard not to get hooked with an ending you will never see coming.
