Foraging Mushrooms Identification Field Guide of the Pacific Northwest by Armand Hansen

Writer's picture: josh banksjosh banks

Here is a very comprehensive guide to mushroom hunting in the Pacific Northwest Area. Now make sure you read that part right, because if you do not technically live there, conditions are different for potential mushroom growth in the area you personally live in. The author does a good job of explaining how the Pacific Northwest's climate and conditions on a yearly level are the reasons for mushrooms cultivating in this region of the U.S. I also dig the warning gs of certain wildlife you might come across...bears, wolves, poisonous snakes

and mountain lions. Listed inside is a breakdown of the mushroom parts and a chart of seasonal growth for mushroom hunters. The images of the types of mushrooms to hunt for are perfect in color and quality. I dig the uses and warnings for this subject. I am an amateur mushroom hunter, so the warnings/lookalikes portion is hugely important to me. A sweet added bonus to the book is recipes for mushrooms. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to start mushroom hunting and needs a little guidance in what is okay to eat and what isn't!
