What is a story without the knowledgeable teacher, Count Doronteau and his prodigal student Kai forging a bond, yet training so the student can evolve into a greater hero.
Add to the plot Kauryna, who is being forced into a loveless marriage in an entirely different land is the key to a deep secret her people have hidden, but not once the Empire emerges. Kai with the power of invisibility has only begun to tap into his true potential in a world bound by, in my estimate, limitless magical opportunities. Author Tori Anne has created a new world with a lot of authentic elements. It is refreshing and new. Worth reading if you are a fan of magic/fantasy.
