I was a little unsatisfied as a “veteran blended family member.” The novel does a good job hitting on the basics behind blended family mentality and potential issues. If I had read this novel before I ever started a blended family, it probably would have given me some basic

tenets for establishing the new family unit. I could have identified a few of the common issues the novel presents to the reader. Ms. Cambell illustrates basic issues to be aware of and makes it easy to read as well as interpret when reading. However, there are a ton of tougher issues blended families might experience when it comes to ex-wives/ex-husbands in making a transition from marriage to divorced family. The impact they can have on the blended-families partnership, parenting, and overall family unit can be very detrimental to success. I feel this novel will work for a new blended family who gets along with their children's other biological parents. Any family that has to deal with court/custody, child support, parenting control issues will need a stronger source of assistance. Overall, the novel is well-written and follows a good order of operations as a blended family.
